While some manufacturers still have them we will offer replacement R22 AC outdoor units for residential and light commercial applications. These units are sold new without refrigerant , and we re-cycle the refrigerant from your old system to charge the new. If your indoor coil is relatively new, or you just need the system running for the least expense, this is the way to go. These are new units made by Payne, Goodman, Gibson or American Standard, and are 13 seer efficiency. We don’t know how long the factories will offer these systems, but for at least thru mid summer 2012. For current pricing check below.

These prices are installed, including tax. Includes removal of old R22 refrigerant and installation in new unit. If old R22 is low, or burnt from electrical compressor failure, it will have to be replaced at $25/lb. This price is if we r-use your old slab and electrical connections, and indoor equipment is in operating condition. All units have 5 year part warranties, except Gibson which gives 10. We remove old unit for recycling.

A NOTE OF WARNING ABOUT BUYING A NEW R22 UNIT:

 

R22 refrigerant is in ever diminishing production until 2020. There is also a substantial surplus stock available. However, the price, while currently similar to the new R410a, is subject to climb. Also, if you buy a new unit outdoors, and in a year or two your indoor unit fails, you will feel that you should have upgraded to R410A at the time. While probably 90% of our change outs are full systems, there are still times when leaving the indoor coils and changing with an R22 unit make sense.
